Spirituality EJ2
Peru is one of the most
spiritual places in the world, an unforgettable
experience ....with esoteric and mystical journeys in the Sacred Valley of the
Inkas ,"the center or axis of the Andean World."
Pilgrimage to the Sacred Temples of the Ancient
Inca Empire
In this excursion, we will learn about the ancient
rituals of the Inkas and participate in a pilgrimage to several of their places
of worship, in a search to purify and energize our souls and bodies. The
pilgrimage will be lead by a Master Shaman, who will accompany us through the
entire journey.
We will start in Cusco, by requesting permission of
the entities and the Mountains for the pilgrimage, and visiting several sacred
temples. We will then take the train to Aguas Calientes and the Sacred Citadel
of Machupicchu, considered by the Incas to be the essence of wisdom. In
Machupicchu, we will take part in several other ceremonies and rituals, relax in
the hot springs, and visit the historic place where Hiram Bingham, the person
who found Machupicchu, first arrived. The voyage will take us to other sacred
sites of the old Inca Empire, such as Ollantaytambo, Yucay, Pikillaqta, the
lagoon of Huarpacay and the Sacred Valley of the Inkas.
Day 1:
Transfer to the airport to take the flight to
Cusco. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Free afternoon to help your body
get accustomed to the high altitude. (Optional: City tour of Cusco and Inka
ruins). Evening presentation by our Master Shaman. He will introduce the
principles of Andean Cosmogony and its sacred elements. We will start the Ritual
of Purification, and request the appropriate permission from the superior
entities and the Apus or Sacred Peaks (Mountains) to start the pilgrimage to the
temples and sacred places that we will visit while in Cusco.
Day 2:
We
will commence the pilgrimage in the morning celebrating the Tinkuy (Encounter
with the Gods) and the contact with the three worlds of the Andean Cosmogony:
Hanan Pacha, Kay Pacha and Ucku Pacha. We will then commence the Inka spiritual
route, starting with the Temple of Tambomachay. Here, we will perform the ritual
of purification of the seven chakras in the fountains of energy. The seven
chakras represent everything around us; the Inka flag has seven colors, the
color red being yourself. The other colors represent what is on your right,
left, in front, behind, above and beneath. This ritual is similar to a baptism.
We will then go on to the Fort of Puka Pukara and the Temple of Laqo (Temple of
the Moon), where we will focus our energy at the great altar. Then we will head
towards the Altar of Kusilluchayoq, where we will give an offering to the
Pachamama (Mother Earth), and the funerary Temple of Q'enqo, which has the
important meaning of life after death. Finally, we will visit the gigantic
observatory of Saqsaywaman, where we will meditate and focus our energy at the
Eye of the Puma.
Day 3:
Morning transfer to the train station to head
towards Aguas Calientes. Check in your hotel upon arrival. Afternoon visit to
the Sacred Inkan City of Machupicchu, considered to be the essence of wisdom.
Here we will start our ritual "situa" which is the cleansing of our bodies and
souls, and the arrangement of the energy flow. Prayer of thankfulness to the
Andean Gods. Evening relaxation at the hot springs in Aguas Calientes.
Day 4:
At
dawn, we return to Machupicchu to make our offering at the Ritual of the Sun and
give thanks to the Inti Tayta (Sun God). We will then hike up to the sacred peak
of Waynapicchu (a moderately difficult walk, you should be fit to do it) to
conclude our offerings to the Wind and the Fire. At night, we will return to
Machupicchu where we will do the ancient Ceremony of the Offerings and
Intentions thanking the Apus or guardians of the citadel (the mountains) for all
the mysteries that were revealed to us and the messages received during our
visit.
Day 5:
Morning hike towards Mandor Pampa, a special
spot near Machupicchu, this was the place where Hiram Bingham camped when
searching for the Lost City of the Inkas. This is an excellent place to observe
the regional flora and fauna. Afternoon return to Aguas Calientes to take the
train to Ollantaytambo, where we will catch a bus taking us to the town of Yucay.
Check in your hotel.
Day 6:
Morning
visit to the Temple of Ollantaytambo, to thank the Andean Gods and give another
offering to the Pachamama and the divine entities. Later we will go to the huge
experimental terraces in Moray, used for agricultural research in Inkan times.
Afternoon return to Cusco. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Day 7:
Morning visit to the pre-Inkan citadel of
Pikillaqta; we will also visit the terraces and canals of Tipon. To end the
sacred circuit, we will perform a ceremony at the sacred lagoon of Huarpacay,
where we will make a final offering to the Cochamama (Cocha mother). Free
afternoon.
